The street signs are harder to read, headlights glare through your windshield, there’s an increased number of risky drivers on the road – without a doubt, driving at night is more dangerous than daytime driving.

1. Set Your Phone to Drive Mode or Do Not Disturb

Cell phone use is one of the top culprits behind distracted driving accidents. Texting, surfing social media, snapping a picture – whatever it may be, behind the wheel is not the place to do it.

Distracted driving has become one of the leading causes of car accidents in the U.S., resulting in nearly 390,000 injuries every year and causing 3,308 deaths in 2022 alone.

For many drivers, navigating treacherous roads during winter weather can be a frightening feat. Between the decreased visibility, slippery conditions and ice patches – the road really is a dangerous place to be in winter months.

1. Drive with daytime or headlights on.

Because you can see, does not mean you are seen. Driving with lights on always reduces your risk of a two vehicle or motorcycle accident by over 10%.

To a teen driver, the road is an endless opportunity to nourish their independence; to a teen parent, the road is an endless opportunity for collisions. We love to see our teens spread their wings and venture onto the road but doing so safely is key.
