ROCKFORD MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY DONATES HUNDREDS OF TOYS TO SADIE’S DREAM FOR A CURE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Hand-Sewn “Busy Bags” are filled with toys to be delivered to pediatric patients this holiday season

Rockford Mutual Insurance Company (RMIC) is delighted to contribute to Sadie’s Dream for a Cure for the first time this holiday season! RMIC will stuff 50 “Busy Bags” with hundreds of toys on Monday, December 9 at our home office located at 527 Colman Center Drive, Rockford. Employees will begin stuffing at 1:00 pm. These gift bags will be delivered to Mercyhealth’s Javon Bea Hospital–Riverside on Thursday, December 12 prior to their 16th Annual Holiday Toy Drive Event which benefits pediatric patients at Mercyhealth.

Sadie’s Dream for a Cure was founded in 2012 with a mission to provide support to families in crisis following a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Their motto says it all, “Helping our littlest warriors in their biggest fight”. The organization fills hand-sewn bags with toys and activities for children going through cancer treatment, such as puzzles, coloring books, legos, craft kits and other items to keep a hospitalized child entertained.

RMIC associates willingly volunteered to take on the challenge of filling 50 “Busy Bags” for Sadie’s Dream for a Cure this holiday season – and they met that challenge!  Thanks to the Mercyhealth Development Foundation Holiday Toy Drive, RMIC’s donations to Sadie’s Dream for a Cure will be distributed to children right here in our hometown of Rockford.

“We’re in the business of helping others.”, says Kent Shantz, President & CEO of RMIC, “That responsibility surpasses our office walls, it surpasses handling claims and daily operations – it encompasses who we are and what we believe in. I am so proud to lead a team with such exceptional values, they have truly expressed the meaning of giving this holiday season.”

Katherine Gardner of Sadie’s Dream for a Cure explained, “We are so grateful for the participation of Rockford Mutual and their incredibly generous support.  One thing that we have learned from operating Sadie’s Dream for a Cure is that regardless of the medical challenges that they may face, kids just want to be kids.  They want to play and have fun.  Through this partnership with Rockford Mutual, we will be able to reach more children, right here in our community, and let them just be kids enjoying play for a little while.”
