ROCKFORD MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY TO CELEBRATE 125 YEARS BY PLANTING 125 TREES THROUGHOUT ROCKFORD PARK DISTRICT PARKS

ROCKFORD, Illinois – Rockford Mutual Insurance Company (RMIC) is pleased to announce it will host a tree planting event for associates on Saturday, May 15, 2021 to help reforest the Forest City in honor of the company’s 125th Anniversary. This event will take place at Levings Park, 1420 S Pierpont Avenue in Rockford, Illinois beginning at 10:00A.M.

The Rockford Park District has identified four parks in greatest need of additional foliage: Levings Park, Clarence Hicks Memorial Sports Park, Walker Park, and Atwood Estates Park. In all, 125 trees will be planted at these locations and will provide shade, along with a variety of environmental, social, and economic benefits. RMIC associate volunteers will gather at Levings Park on Saturday, May 15 for planting as the majority of trees are needed at this location. The Rockford Park District will plant the remainder of the trees on behalf of RMIC’s donation.

“We are very excited to honor our 125th Anniversary in a fashion that gives back to both our community and the environment” says Kent Shantz, President & CEO of RMIC, “These 125 trees are meant to signify that a strong and deep root can overcome even the most challenging of storms. RMIC has been in business since 1896, showcasing the same resilience and perseverance these trees will elicit for many years to come.”
